Garden Club

Meeting in the Village Hall at 2.00 pm on the first Wednesday of each month from March to November (inclusive), the club members come from in and around the Cilcennin community. The aim is to provide a social occasion for people to share information on seeds and plants, discuss design ideas, talk about gardening problems and provide help where possible - all with a cup of tea and biscuits.
In the first year (2009) talks covered a range of subjects, including how to set up a nursery and its problems, how to grow tomatoes and how to grow beautiful plants in a hanging basket.
As ideas developed, the group decided it needed more information about other gardens, so a grant was applied for. Over the next year, having gained the grant, visits to various gardens provided the members with the stimulus to beautify their gardens and the village. Members have already been involved bulb planting around the village.
It is still a new club; new ideas and new members will be welcome from July onwards.
